Welcome to the World of Kindergarten
About me
Kindergarten is my world. It is my favorite world. Being in my classroom with this group of children is where I am the happiest and where I laugh the most. Kindergarten is the place where I feel I have the ability to make a change , not just in the life of each child but in the lives of families and in the education system .I have been in education over 30 years and I have been teaching Kindergarten for over 20 years . I started my career teaching in Japan ,then I was recruited from Canada to LA to teach High School Special Education . I then switched to public school and taught Middle School Special Education .These other experiences have given me a rounded perspective of special education, second language learners and the struggles of teenage life in school .The year my daughter was in Kindergarten I applied for a Kindergarten job mid – year and fell in love with this age and this grade. As a parent and a teacher what I really hope to do on this site is share my experience, my knowledge of the education system, my funny stories ,my failures , my opinions and my suggestions . I also hope to reassure , encourage and support you the readers /parents as you negotiate parenting, teaching preparing and guiding children. Sadly there is no manual or teacher’s guide for parents; every child is unique so no strategy works for all kids . Hopefully this blog will create a dialogue, open discussions , make you laugh and make you feel less alone negotiating the 13 year journey called ‘school’.
